New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics

The main organization for the teaching of mathematics in New Hampshire.

Balanced Assessment

From 1993 to 2003, the Balanced Assessment in Mathematics Program existed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The project group developed a large collection of innovative mathematics assessment tasks for grades K to 12, and trained teachers to use these assessments in their classrooms. The library of over 300 mathematics assessment tasks developed during the project remains freely available through this Web site. Teachers may use these materials in their own classrooms at no cost.

Educational Testing Service (ETS)

Information about the SAT, GRE, and PRAXIS series of test.

Equity in Mathematics Education Leadership Institute (EMELI)

Previously funded by the National Science Foundation from 1995 to 2001 to increase the ability of mathematics education reform leaders to effectively and productively address equity, in order that teachers and schools will change practices that impede the learning of students from groups underrepresented in mathematics.

Math Forum

Many nice activities including Ask Dr. Math - a question answering service staffed by faculty and students as Swarthmore College, and a large list of internet resources - well worth looking at.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

Information about NAEP, links to other sites, and information about linking NAEP with TIMSS.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

The main organization for the teaching of mathematics in the United States. Many links to curriculum, instruction, and assessments resources.

National Research Council Center for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Education

A national organization concerned with curriculum development and review, educational policy, research, assessment, and evaluation. Responsible for developing and supporting the National Science Education Standards.

National Science Foundation

A national organization for improving mathematics education in the United States. NSF initiates and sponsors a wide variety of projects and is a significant source of funding for professional development opportunities.

NHMathEd

Project Mathematics!

Project MATHEMATICS! videos explore basic topics in high school mathematics in ways that cannot be done at the chalkboard or in a textbook. They bring mathematics to life with imaginative computer animation, live action, music, special effects, and a sense of humor.

PSU Impact Center

One of seven IMPACT Centers in the New England area whose common mission is to facilitate the implementation of exemplary standards-based mathematics and science programs by K-12 teachers in New England.

Regional Alliance for Mathematics and Science Education

Supports K-12 mathematics, science, and technology reform in the Northeast. Provides professional development and technical assistance.

Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS)

Information and links for the most recent study to compare performance of students in mathematics and science at three grade levels: 4, 8, and 12, within many counties worldwide.
