Accountability/Reporting Requirements


Charter School Accountability Reporting Requirements:

August January/February

Health Inspection Report Acrobat Reader - please contact the local health officer to schedule an appointment

Health Inspections are due before the school initially opens and upon five-year renewal

If a school moves to a different facility, a health inspection is required for the new location.

Please review the asbestos law requirement. The NH Department of Environmental Services may contact schools to conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with US Environmental Protection Agendy (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulations.

Certificate of Insurance Coverage (i.e., workers compensation, property liability) - due annually before the start of each school year

Board Meeting Minutes - due monthly or as determined, i.e., every other month

For new charter schools, a school calendar is due before the school initially opens

Annual Progress Report - due yearly by August 1. Please respond to the Four Key Questions Acrobat Reader

Board Meeting Minutes - due monthly or as determined, i.e., every other month
September March

Board Meeting Minutes - due monthly or as determined, i.e., every other month

Independent Financial Audit - due September 30 (for the prior school year ending June 30). An annual audit is required in accordance with RSA 194-B:10, II

Quarterly Financial Report - due September 30 (see sample and instructions below located under Resources)

Board Meeting Minutes - due monthly or as determined, i.e., every other month

For Charter Schools in their opening year, a Progress Report is due December 1

Fire and Life Safety Inspection:
To request a school inspection, please use the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Division of Fire Safety's Online Reporting Tool.

Please submit the Fire and Life Safety Inspection Checklist by December 15.

For brand new charter schools, a fire and life safety inspection and certificate of occupancy are due before the school initially opens.

If a school moves to a different facility, a fire and life safety inspection and certificate of occupany are required for the new location.

Quarterly Financial Report - due June 30

Other state reporting requirements (through the myNHDOE Single Sign On portal) for public charter schools include, but are not limited to:

Office of School Finance - reporting requirements for public charter schools:

  • DOE-25 Annual Financial Report - due September 1 (see below for template and instructions)
  • Charter School per Pupil Aid form - annually, each public charter school reports student enrollment (Opening Day, November 1, February 1) in order to receive state adequacy aid payments. Completed forms may be submitted to:
