Preparation for the HiSET Tests

The HiSET™ high school equivalency test from ETS measures students in the same content areas as the GED® test, so your candidates can prepare very effectively using the existing GED® 2002 series study guides, described below. These study guides emphasize the importance of being able to read and process information, solve problems and communicate effectively. Candidates review content and process skills across all subject areas that are consistent with the HiSET assessment in the level of difficulty, the types of stimulus presented and the types of questions asked.

Educational Testing Service which oversees HiSET Testing is working with publishers to develop materials specifically for HiSET preparation. You can find the latest information about recommended materials on the HiSET website: http://hiset.ets.org/prepare/overview.

The Bureau of Adult Education maintains a list of HiSET preparation classes. Contact the local program nearest you to find out details about classes and how to register.

If you do not find a HiSET preparation class near you, you may be able to get assistance from an Adult Learner Services Program. Contact the program nearest to you and talk with the coordinator about getting a volunteer tutor.
