Smarter Balanced Assessments – For School & District Leadership

Teachers, School, and District Leaders should use the NH Department of Education’s Smarter Balanced Assessment Portal as an entry to the many resources available to support the implementation of the college and career readiness standards and the launch of SBAC. In addition to the resources available on this site, teachers and leaders should regularly access materials through the NH SBAC portal as well as the NH Network. Access to both locations requires an account with a username and password.

Technical Assistance Advisories

SBAC Field Test Report Acrobat Reader – Highlights important lessons learned during the field test which can support districts in their planning and preparation for the spring 2015 summative assessment.

Summative Test Blueprints -- Describe the content of the English language arts/literacy and mathematics summative assessments for grades 3-8 and high school – and how that content will be assessed.

Achievement Levels – Describes the process that the Smarter Balanced consortium used to develop the achievement levels and scores approved by member states is available on the Smarter Balanced website.

District Test Coordinator Workshop PowerPoint, AIR, February 2015 – Offers districts an orientation to the role of District Test Coordinator, the associated responsibilities, and how a districts plans and prepares for test administrations.

Smarter Balanced Resources and Documentation – Orients teachers to user manuals, classroom activities, scoring guides, performance task and writing rubrics for Smarter Balanced. These resources will support teachers, students and test administrators in preparing for the summative assessment. They also offer a wealth of resources for school leadership to design and deliver professional development modules to teachers.

English Language Arts Timing & Sequencing Acrobat Reader – Outlines different components of the English Language Arts Assessment and estimated student test time.

Mathematics Timing & Sequencing Acrobat Reader – Outlines different components of the mathematics assessment and estimated student test time.

SBAC: Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines Acrobat Reader – Provides detailed guidance on universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations available for students taking SBAC. The process for making determinations is also reviewed.
