Ranked list of school building aid approved

There are 17 eligible building aid applications

CONCORD, NH — On Thursday, the State Board of Education approved the ranked list of school districts that have been prioritized for building aid for fiscal years 2024 and 2025. The list includes 17 schools that are seeking a portion of construction costs for various projects, including new school construction, renovation projects to existing facilities and building additions.

The top five projects include new schools, building additions and consolidation and renovation projects in the following school districts: Rochester (requested building aid of $20.2 million), Colebrook (requested building aid of $9.9 million), Monadnock (requested building aid of $19.4 million), Concord (requested building aid of $70.5 million) and Litchfield (requested building aid of $9.6 million).

The building projects were ranked on various criteria, including school security, unsafe conditions, obsolete or inefficient conditions, operational efficiency and more.

A total of about $49 million for this next biennium could possibly be available if building aid is fully funded. School building aid awards will be based upon this new ranking and the total State appropriation available, which has not yet been determined; it is still unknown how many school building aid grants will be funded, and some projects require local approval by voters. The New Hampshire Department of Education will present this list to the state legislature for consideration as part of its proposed, overall budget.

The total estimated building aid sought for all 17 projects is about $227.7 million. This is the largest number of applications received for the school building aid program since the moratorium was lifted in 2020. Project details are highlighted in this building aid list.
