Statement from the State Board of Education

CONCORD, NH — The State Board of Education is grateful for all of the insight and guidance provided by the New Hampshire Division of Public Health throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including its announcement on Feb. 23 stating that it no longer recommends universal facemask use in indoor or outdoor settings, including school facilities. This change is a positive step forward for New Hampshire schools as they move beyond the pandemic and continue their focus of providing the best education possible for our youth. We thank all of our schools for their devotion to keeping children safe and providing them with unique academic opportunities throughout the past challenging two years. It is our hope that children, who are now attending schools mask-free, will be able to fully engage and prosper in their learning environments as districts shift their policies to align with public health recommendations. We encourage everyone to respect others in regards to their own individual mask use, which remains optional.
