Family Survey

Are you a parent/guardian of a child under the age of 7 who lives in New Hampshire?

We want to hear from you!

In December 2018, the University of New Hampshire, in collaboration with the State of New Hampshire Departments of Health and Human Services and Education, was awarded a federal grant Preschool Development Grant (PDG) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant provides an opportunity for New Hampshire to better understand the state’s early childhood system and to create a strategic plan to build a system that will better address the needs and improve outcomes for children, families, schools, and communities throughout New Hampshire.

We are interested in learning from parents or guardians with children under age 7 about their participation in such early childhood programs such as: early care and education, home visiting, early intervention, health care, and other types of programs that focus on young children from birth until they enter kindergarten and their families. We are particularly interested in access to programs, experience with program quality, and any barriers to program participation.

Taking part in the survey is voluntary and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete (you may skip any question you do not wish to answer). You will be eligible for a $20 Amazon gift card as a token of appreciation for completing the survey; however, you must provide a valid New Hampshire mailing address to receive compensation. We have received an amazing response from the families of New Hampshire and have reached capacity on the number of responses to which we can offer compensation (limited to the first 1,000 respondents). We value your thoughts and insights, and encourage you to complete the survey; however, we cannot provide compensation for your time.

To participate in the study, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a resident of New Hampshire
  • Be the parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 7 living in New Hampshire

The survey will be open through July 28, 2019 and must be completed in one sitting.

The survey is supported by the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five Initiative (PDG B-5), Grant Number 90TP0006, from the Office of Child Care, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant aims to understand the state’s early childhood system and to create a plan to improve outcomes for children, families, schools, and communities throughout New Hampshire. (UNH IRB#8099).
