Cindy C. Chagnon was graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Secondary Education – English/Language Arts. She previously taught English and Social Studies in West Virginia and New Hampshire. Cindy has been a member of the Bedford School Board since 1997 and has served as Chair and Vice Chair. She is a member of the Board of Directors and the previous Chair of the New Hampshire School Boards Association. She previously served as the Chair of the “ED”ies, the NH Excellence in Education Awards Program, and on the Selection Committees for the Middle School and Secondary Schools of Excellence.

She has served in many volunteer capacities with the New Hampshire Department of Education – the External Task Force for No Child Left Behind, the Task Forces on Effective Teaching I and II, The Professional Standards Board, and the Selection Committee for the NH Teacher of the Year. She also serves as the Chair of the NH Association of School Principals Principal of the Year Selection Committee. In Bedford she serves on the Curriculum Committee, the Bedford High School Community Senate, and was involved in all of the curriculum research for the inception of Bedford High School.

Governor John Lynch appointed Mrs. Chagnon to the NH State Board of Education in 2012. She also serves on the board of NH Healthy Kids and previously worked as a volunteer with CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Abused and Neglected Children, and served on the Manchester Board for NH Child and Family Services.
