Statement on the upcoming closure of Magdalen College

CONCORD, NH — While we know that the number of students enrolled in New Hampshire’s post-secondary schools is declining, the upcoming closure of Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts is still difficult news for the nearly 60 students and their families that will be directly affected. As one of four Catholic colleges in New Hampshire, Magdalen served the region well while offering dynamic educational options.

The New Hampshire Department of Education and the Higher Education Commission will be offering support to the school and connecting students to appropriate resources as they work to create their individual transition plans. NHED will also serve as the custodian of student transcripts once Magdalen College officially closes its doors in May of 2024. This is the first college in New Hampshire to end operations since Daniel Webster College closed in 2017.
