New Hampshire Department of Education launches backpack drive

Helping NH families with back-to-school expenses

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Education will be hosting its annual backpack drive beginning on July 7, 2022. The drive will run through Aug. 12. This is the seventh year that NHED has been collecting new backpacks for children in need throughout the state.

The backpacks may be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the department’s office, 25 Hall St. in Concord. At the front entrance, please call Natasha Lupiani at 603-271-3196 for assistance.
Diana Fenton, an attorney at NHED, created the annual backpack drive as a way to give back to those less fortunate.

“There are many families throughout the state that simply cannot afford to purchase a backpack for their child. We want to make sure that every child can start the new school year with a fresh start and a new backpack,” said Fenton.

Backpacks are provided to school nurses for distribution across the state to students who need one. For more information, please contact Diana Fenton at (603) 271-3189 or diana.fenton@doe.nh.gov
