Ann Lane commits her time to the education and well being of children. As a military wife and mother, Ann followed her own 'call to serve' by dedicating her time for the past twenty years within communities spanning from California, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Formerly a professional in the construction industry, Ann changed her career path once her children’s education reawakened her own natural tendency toward children’s advocacy. Subsequently, Ann became engaged in volunteer educational activism at the local level.

In three states, Ann served on parent teacher organizations, youth recreational boards, a local school board, a children's residential treatment home board and chaired an educational endowment board. Ann developed and implemented an elementary foreign language program, and helped coach Robotics and Destination Imagination teams while living in Lenox, Massachusetts. In New Hampshire, Ann chaired the Moharimet Elementary PTO (Madbury, NH) and served a term as an at-large member of the Oyster River Cooperative School District School Board (Durham, NH) where she also worked extensively on district policy, communications, and superintendent search committees.

Currently, Ann serves on the Dover Children's Home Board.

Ann graduated from Tufts University (BA Architectural History), completed a carpentry apprenticeship, and enrolled in the University of New Haven’s EMBA program. Ann lives in Durham with her husband and has three children, a high school senior, a college senior and a 1st Lt in the Marine Corps.

Governor Sununu appointed Ann Lane to the State Board of Education in 2017.
