Independent Living Program

Independent Living Program explores the ways that VR New Hampshire helps people with disabilities achieve their independent living goals.

While many people take these freedoms for granted, some people with disabilities may experience challenges achieving the level of independence they’d like. VR New Hampshire’s Independent Living Program can help.

Through this initiative, VR New Hampshire works with partners, among them Granite State Independent Living (GSIL), to provide a variety of services that can help people with disabilities achieve their independent living goals. These include:

  • Information and referrals
  • Independent living skills training and support
  • Peer support counseling and training
  • Self-advocacy skills training
  • Home modifications
  • Accessible transportation and mobility training
  • Adaptive aids and equipment, including accessible technology
  • Interpreters for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Service coordination/case management
  • Personal Care Attendants (PCA)

Eligibility for independent living services is based on the existence of a significant disability that impedes independence, and some services are dependent upon financial need. Learn more by reading our fact sheet about VR New Hampshire’s Independent Living Program or contacting:
