School Transition Services
VR New Hampshire helps students with disabilities prepare for and transition to the world of work. Empowering students with disabilities to explore their interests, discover their strengths, and pursue and achieve their employment aspirations.
VR New Hampshire serves state residents with disabilities of all ages, including students. We do this both directly, through one-on-one career guidance, counseling, and other services, and indirectly, through our School Transition Services.
Through our School Transition Services, also known as pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS), we work in partnership with local school districts and individual schools and teachers throughout the state to ensure their students with disabilities are positioned to successfully transition from school to college or career.
All School Transition Services are rooted in self-determination and informed choice, reflecting the philosophy that knowledge of both oneself and the world of work leads to the best outcomes. In this spirit, VR counselors work closely with students, as well as their teachers and family members as appropriate, to develop an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE) that dovetails with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and transition goals.
VR New Hampshire’s School Transition Services are guided by both the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
